Klaviyo Email Marketing Software: $1,800 a Year at 10k – $8,640 at 50k
Klaviyo's email plan costs $1,800 a year at 10,000 contacts, the most of the four e-commerce email tools compared here. That is $216 more than Omnisend, and the gap grows to $3,684 a year at 50,000 contacts.

Five times the list costs 4.8 times as much. Klaviyo email marketing software runs $150 a month at 10,000 contacts and $720 at 50,000, per Klaviyo’s pricing page. At 50,000 contacts, that is $3,684 a year more than Omnisend Standard.
If you’ll use Klaviyo’s flows and forms, judge it on those first. If price is your first filter, MailerLite Comfort costs less at all three list sizes priced below.
Verdict: Pick Klaviyo for Its Flows and Forms, Not for Its Price at 50k
- Verdict: Klaviyo is an email tool for online stores that want automated flows, targeted sign-up forms and ready-made templates in one account. Buy it if you’ll use those; at 1,000 contacts it costs $360 a year.
- The flaw: at 50,000 contacts Klaviyo costs the most of the four tools below ($8,640 a year), and MailerLite Comfort costs less at every list size priced here. Fix: before your list nears 50,000, price Omnisend Standard ($4,956) and MailerLite Comfort ($3,828) over the same 12 months. Omnisend’s page also offers a 30% saving if you pay 3 months upfront.
- Strengths: more than 160 templates; AI (artificial intelligence) that writes email copy; a flow builder that needs no code; several sign-up form styles. On Shopify, a $15 texting plan includes carrier fees, the charges phone networks add per text.
- Who should skip: if price is your first filter at 50,000 contacts, buy MailerLite Comfort. It costs $4,812 a year less.
How We Evaluated: Vendor Pricing Pages Plus Four Feature Sources
All costs come from MarketingRating’s pricing dataset. The dataset reads each vendor’s own pricing page (read 20 Oct 2026) and adds up 12 months of fees. Klaviyo and MailerLite are priced at 1,000, 10,000 and 50,000 contacts; Omnisend and Mailchimp at 50,000. Feature details come from Klaviyo’s own pages, its Shopify App Store listing, Shopline’s guide and EmailToolTester’s review.
You can check the main figure yourself. Set Klaviyo’s pricing page to 10,000 contacts and compare its email price with $150 a month. All of MarketingRating’s software reviews use this method.
Klaviyo Covers Email, SMS and WhatsApp, Priced by Contacts and Channels
Klaviyo sends marketing email and SMS (text messages) from one account. Its Shopify App Store listing also names WhatsApp. Paid plans are priced by contact count and channel usage. So two numbers set your bill: how many people are on your list, and how many channels you send through.
The Editor Comes With 160+ Templates and AI-Written Copy
Klaviyo’s email builder is drag-and-drop, with more than 160 customizable templates and AI-generated email content. That helps a store with no designer: you edit a finished layout and let the AI draft the words.
Personalization goes beyond the first name. EmailToolTester’s Klaviyo review says you can personalize the inbox preview text and show or hide dynamic content in both emails and forms. Dynamic content means one campaign can show different blocks to different readers.
Flows Build Without Code; Forms Include Pop-Ups and Fly-Outs
A flow is a series of emails that starts on its own when a customer does something. Shopline’s Klaviyo guide describes a visual workflow builder that creates trigger-based campaigns and behavior-based sequences without custom code. For example, a sign-up can start a welcome series.
Setup still takes time. The same guide says user feedback names a 60-to-90-day onboarding timeline as a consistent limitation. If you want flows running before a sale season, start about three months ahead.
Sign-up forms feed those flows. Klaviyo’s features page lists pop-ups, fly-outs, embedded forms and multi-step forms among its form types. Dynamic content also works in forms, so one pop-up can change what it shows from visitor to visitor.
Free Plan Covers 250 Profiles and 2 Emails Each a Month
Klaviyo’s free plan allows 250 active profiles and 500 sends a month. A profile is one person on your list; EmailToolTester’s pricing table lists the same tier as 250 subscribers. That works out to 500 / 250 = 2 emails per profile a month. A weekly campaign to all 250 profiles takes 4 x 250 = 1,000 sends, twice the cap.
Use the free plan to build forms and flows. Don’t plan on running a store’s email from it.
Installing through Shopify adds two terms. The app’s texting plan is $15 a month for up to 1,250 SMS/MMS credits, carrier fees included. A credit is a prepaid unit of texting, and MMS is a text with a picture. The same listing says Klaviyo may bill some charges separately from your Shopify invoice, so a year’s spend can show up on two statements.
At 50k Contacts, Klaviyo Costs $3,240 to $4,812 a Year More Than Three Rivals
Klaviyo’s bill grows faster than MailerLite’s. The first table adds up 12 months on each plan at three list sizes, using MarketingRating’s pricing dataset (read 20 Oct 2026). Both columns use monthly billing.
| Contacts | Klaviyo Email | MailerLite Comfort, monthly | Klaviyo costs more by |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $360 | $228 | $132 |
| 10,000 | $1,800 | $1,068 | $732 |
| 50,000 | $8,640 | $3,828 | $4,812 |
At 50,000 contacts, all four tools are in the dataset. Rows run from the highest 12-month cost to the lowest.
| Plan at 50,000 contacts | 12-month cost | Klaviyo costs more by |
|---|---|---|
| Klaviyo Email | $8,640 | — |
| Mailchimp Standard | $5,400 | $3,240 |
| Omnisend Standard | $4,956 | $3,684 |
| MailerLite Comfort, monthly | $3,828 | $4,812 |
| MailerLite Comfort, yearly | $3,445.20 | $5,194.80 |
The math behind the numbers that matter:
- At 50k: $8,640 (Klaviyo) - $4,956 (Omnisend) = $3,684 a year, and $8,640 - $3,828 (MailerLite) = $4,812, so Klaviyo costs 2.26 times as much as MailerLite.
- At 10k: $1,800 / 12 = $150 a month (Klaviyo), and $150 / 100 = $1.50 per 1,000 of the 100,000 emails a month the plan includes. MailerLite Comfort is $1,068 / 12 = $89 a month for the same 100,000 emails (MailerLite), or $0.89 per 1,000. Each Klaviyo email costs about 1.7 times as much.
- From 10k to 50k, Klaviyo’s bill rises 4.8 times ($1,800 to $8,640), but its gap over MailerLite rises 6.6 times ($732 to $4,812).
Mailchimp’s $5,400 equals 12 payments of $450. Mailchimp’s pricing page says businesses with 10,000+ contacts can save 15% on their first 12 months. If $5,400 is the price before that discount, your first year at 50,000 contacts costs $5,400 x 0.85 = $4,590. Klaviyo’s gap over Mailchimp then grows from $3,240 to $4,050.
Texting Adds $0.01 a Send, or $15 for 1,250 Credits on Shopify
You pay for SMS on top of the email plan. Bought direct from Klaviyo, SMS on a US toll-free number costs $0.01 per send plus carrier fees. Through the Shopify app, $15 / 1,250 = $0.012 a credit, with carrier fees included (Shopify listing). If each text uses one credit and carrier fees run above $0.002 a text, the Shopify plan is cheaper.
Omnisend’s starting rate is lower. Its pricing page lists SMS “now starting at $0.007” a text, against Klaviyo’s $0.01 plus carrier fees. If texting is a large share of your plan, price it on both pages at your volume.
Composer is Klaviyo’s AI marketing agent. Per Klaviyo’s home page, with one prompt it “audits your flows, segments, and forms, and creates an entire on-brand campaign.” The pricing page lists it as a $20-a-month add-on. That is $240 a year, which raises the 10,000-contact email bill from $1,800 to $2,040.
Decide by List Size: Klaviyo’s Gap Over MailerLite Grows From $11 to $401 a Month
- If you have 1,000 contacts, Klaviyo costs $360 a year, $11 a month more than MailerLite Comfort. If the editor and flows matter more to you than that, choose on features.
- If you have 10,000 contacts, the gap over MailerLite is $732 a year, about $61 a month. Pick Klaviyo only if you’ll use its flows, forms and Shopify texting plan.
- If you’re heading toward 50,000 contacts, Klaviyo costs $270 to $401 a month more than Mailchimp, Omnisend or MailerLite. Price those three before you renew. MailerLite billed yearly costs $3,445.20.
- If you’re on the free plan, you get 2 emails per profile a month. Upgrade before you start weekly campaigns.
